BIO 135 - Microbiology Basics

An introduction to the microbial world with emphasis on clinical application. Lecture topics include microbial diversity, microbial organism structure and physiology, the infectious disease process and effective prevention and control measures. Lab emphasizes the use of aseptic techniques, mechanisms of organism spread, control measures, and basic identification of clinically important organisms. Designed for nursing and allied health professional career paths. Not recommended for non-science majors.  Not open to students with credit for BIO 405, 406 or 435 except with consent of instructor. Lecture/laboratory. Graded ABCDE
